April 18, 2009

Kind of a quiet day. Heather, Taylor, and Jon went to his parent’s house, near Mt. Pleasant. Gail had today off and wanted to take the girls to the new Hannah Montana movie. I had kids today and couldn’t go. I had originally taken this week-end off for the Girl Scout camping trip, but opened up for daycare to make the money once the trip was cancelled. I didn’t know Jon was going to go until after I had opened up for daycare. At least I had good kids today……

I spent a lot of time cleaning. It’s spring time, that’s all I can say. I’ve started cleaning things that have been neglected, cob-webbed corners, closets, etc. I thought about cleaning the carpets today, but decided not to. Glad I decided against it, because I ended up cleaning until almost midnight as it was. Now I just have laundry to do. We use fans in the windows to cool the house and everything ends up with a layer of dust/dirt. Drives me nuts. It’s only been this week that we’re using the fans, but already the dust has begun.

We went outside today, too. It was 70* and beautiful. I thought about doing yard work, too, but ended up kicking a ball and chasing kids, lol. So I guess I got my exercise in. Could be worse.

Hopefully going to get through some of my 2300 e-mails and to-do pile before I fall asleep tonight. I actually have all day tomorrow, too, but I’m so much more productive at night. Guess it’s the part werewolf in me, lol.

Sheesh

I was eating my Amish friendship bread, dipping it in butter. Hoover wanted my butter, but too bad. Then I hear Bronson spill his cereal WITH milk. I think I've outsmarted my cat and put the butter high up on my desk (she's afraid of heights; she doesn't go that far up). I go and clean up the table, the floor, and him. I put his dishes away and then put his washcloth away. I then decide to throw the laundry in the dryer. Come back to my desk and there's Hoover with Amish friendship bread scattered all over my desk and she's licking her chops......

Fine, I was outsmarted by the cat.......

My Weekend

It seems like my mind has such random thoughts all the time. I often wonder if it's normal....

Jon and the girls went to his parent's on Friday night. I had Riley and Bronson then and Saturday night. Pretty easy nights; they're good boys. Katie came over yesterday, too, and we had a counseling session. Great friend; it's nice to have one again. I got screwed royally by my last one, and it messed with me so that I couldn't trust anyone for a long time. I completely opened up to her, and she took so much from me. Money and friendship don't mix, I've learned......

Yesterday I started exercising and tracking my food again. I've got to do it; I just feel like it's time. Again. I go back and forth to caring about it to not giving a shit. It felt good to exercise; I did 15 minutes on the elliptical, sit-ups on my ball, and some strength training, too. I'm going to have to give up my gym membership, I'm thinking. Since Jon lost his job there's going to have to be more cuts made......

But right now I want some damn chocolate.......

Not-so-busy-Friday

Actually, today sucked for income. I had 3 kids all day. I had 2 from 11-11 and one from 3-6. And the funny thing is, there was no school today!!

So I got up and gave Heather her pills at 7:30 this morning, then went back to bed. Got up at 9 and exercised, showered, and got ready. Katie and I took Matthew, Heather, Taylor, and 2 daycare kids (Riley & Bronson) to the local nursing home with some valentines to hand out. It was neat, seeing all those people smile at the kids. The kids were apprehensive about approaching some, but did pretty good after the first half-dozen or so. I guess gray hair and wheelchairs can be a little overwhelming,
lol. And after we were done we talked about why we visited the home; that sometimes their families and friends couldn't come and visit them and they get lonely.

Came home and Katie made lunch. I ran to
Meijer to exchange an elbow splint that I bought last night. The one that I got was too small. I've worn the new one pretty much all day & night and I must say that my arm feels better. (I had carpel tunnel surgery on my right hand in October. When I went back to the gym, I over-compensated with my left hand and now have tendinitis (tennis elbow) in my arm). Getting old sucks.....

I tried napping, but couldn't. Got up to clean. Then just did the usual; clean, laundry, feed kids, read books, cuddle with kids, put them to bed, etc.

I watched Diane Sawyer's 20/20 show on people who live in the Appalachian Mountains. Holy sad. They live in such poverty, and some try to get out, but cannot, or will not.

I should get up and finish cleaning, but I've been exhausted for a couple of hours now, so it will probably wait until tomorrow.....

Saturday Stuff

Taylor had her last football game to cheer for today. They had it at the Tri-City's Field, which turned out to be 45 minutes away. Strange since all of the other games have been more local. My Mom & Grandma went to go see her, too. Grandma Great hadn't been to see her yet, and I'm sure she enjoyed it.
I had Riley & Bronson today, so I had to stay home. They were turds; they hadn't napped (they're 2 & 3 year old brothers). I spent most of the day cleaning. It's getting too cold to hang the rugs out on the porch after washing them, though, because it's getting so cold. It only got up to about 53* today. Not too bad, unless you're trying to dry rugs.

Mom & Grandma came and got the girls after they ran errands. The girls are spending the night with Mom & Tom tonight. They're going to church in the morning, too. They enjoy going. I guess I should take them, but we're either doing something, going somewhere, or once in awhile I get to sleep in. Maybe I'm just lazy...... I just don't think that you need to go to church to know what you believe in. Of course we're talking about kids, and they will eventually make their own decisions...... I guess it's one part of parenting that you won't know if you did ok until much later.......

Our Day

My Mom called me this morning at 9:15 and just so happened to wake me up. EVERY TIME, no lie, that I'm able to sleep in, that woman calls and wakes me up. But she got a surprise today, because she also woke HEATHER up!! lol That's my girl....

So I faced reality, got up and showered. I started taking Melatonin to help me fall asleep faster, but I'm dragging ASS even more in the morning (yes, that can happen, Katie), so I think I'm done with that. (Just in case someone thinks that I'm a druggie, Melatonin is produced naturally in everybody; it's a chemical that helps you fall asleep. Heather takes it to help her fall asleep because of the stimulants that she's on during the day for her adhd).

So after my shower, I did some laundry and cleaning up, then sat down to study. Next thing you know, I'm sawing logs. I have no idea what happened; I just know that I took that Melatonin last night and it just didn't wear off, apparently. I woke up at noon, just in time to get ready to leave for the football game that Taylor was cheering for. We got there about 45 minutes early, then the game before us ran a half hour late, which sucked. We finally got through our game, which they won 46 to 0. Holy spanking of the other team....

Came home to Riley, Bronson, and Bretten. OMG, 3 boys, lol. They were in the process of demolishing the playroom. That's fine; they got along pretty well, no major issues. Bretten has been here for only a week after being cared for by Grandma. He's doing a bit of crying because he misses his Mom, but he's adjusting quite well.

Once his Mom gets here (a little after 12), I'm going to bed. I have to get up early to go to a baby shower in the morning.......
