Got a little bit done today...

I was tired as hell this morning. I only had one daycare kid, and I think that's partially why. I mean, really, you can only be educational with one child for so long, lol. So by the time Katie got here, I was beat. Layed down for about an hour, but only slept about 20 min. When my alarm went off I was sleeping GREAT!! Figures...... I probably should stop sleeping during the day, but I'm just a natural night owl......

I went to Baker today for a waiver test. It was on word processing. I really thought that I'd do ok, but OMG, did I fail it in a big way, lmao. We had to pass it with at least an 80%; I got a 43%. Now if it were on Microsoft Works, I would have been fine. But this was on MS Word 2007 version, and I've only started using it for the past couple of months; and not often enough to pass, obviously!!

So then I went to see a financial aid officer, then a specialist for the TEACH scholarship. That scholarship hasn't gone through yet, and evidently I owe roughly $900. Not gonna happen, lol. But I know that I filled out the paperwork, so I'll have to call my contact person tomorrow. Then I'll have about $150 out of pocket costs..... much better.

Then I went to the bank for a money order. I can't wait until the bankrupcy goes through so I don't have to piss with those anymore and they take it right out of Jon's paycheck.

I had a visit a few weeks ago from Chad, my licensing consultant. One of the things that we talked about was some new rules coming up. One of them is to test the house for radon. So I went to the health dept. for a kit. Might as well; they're free!!

I met a woman online through freecycle.org a few months ago. She had some winter jackets and snowpants that she was giving away, and I had daycare kids who needed them. While talking to her, she mentioned that she had more clothing and lots of toys to give away. So she e-mailed me a couple of days ago and I went and picked them up today. OMG, there was a TON!!! It's awesome that someone will just give this stuff away, and it's NICE STUFF!!! So I brought it home and kept some, but will have TONS to give to some of the kids in my daycare. I know that Christmas was hard for many this year.....

Guess I should go to bed; it's after 2 a.m. I get to sleep in until 6:45, though!! Yeeeehaaawwww, lol.

January 5, 2009

I almost put 2008 in the title, again... lol. I suppose it will be June before I put 2009 down on a consistant basis. This is my last week before school starts back up. I have a waiver test tomorrow, and I'm going to go see a financial aid specialist to make sure that I can handle any out of pocket costs.

I'm watching Animal Planet right now, and it's an episode on the Houston SPCA going to Galveston after Hurricane Ike. Not kidding, I sat here with tears in my eyes at one point. I'm not a heartless bitch; I love animals and I love this show, but do I HAVE to cry at something on EVERY episode?!?!?!? Honestly!!

Today was a busier day than usual. It was supposed to be the kids' first day back to school after the holiday break, but we had freezing rain last night and they closed school. So we had a full house today. That was ok, it was a great day with cool activities and lots of learning, which is the perfect day around here if you ask me. If the kids have fun and learn something, then I'm happy. I just wish Jon could see that. Not only does it make me happy to do my job, but I love teaching the kids, and hope to be a benefit in their lives. He hates it, though. He feels like the house isn't his. Kind of true; I mean every room has daycare stuff in it. But I (along with my amazing assistants) keep it clean and very picked up, so there's plenty of "living" space, too. And he hates the noise. Well, here's my 2 cents about that. Don't stay up all night and try to sleep all day and the kids voices won't bother you. Since he's laid off, that's what he does. Quite frankly, it's not my problem. I just wish he would see that I'm loving my job and that I do make a difference in these kids' lives. Dammit.

Anyways, the week-end was good. I had kids all day on Saturday, but only until 6. I cleaned the house that night and we had a good Sunday family day. We just hung out; didn't do anything, but it's always nice just to do nothing for a day.
